How We Do It

Data Sourcing

Data on the portal is collected and analyzed by responsible field and desk officers of mandated MDAs. This data is then forwarded to the Technical Working Group of the ABCD Portal for review and validation.

Note: The Technical Working Group is composed of Technical officers from Various MDAs and private Sector organizations that are involved in the respective Value Chains.

Data Validation

After value chain data is collected and cleaned by field and desk officers, the ABCD Technical Working Group reviewed, analyzed and approved and signoff the data so that it can be published on the online portal.

Data Visualization

Approved data is published and displayed on the online ABCD portal by the MoFPED desk officers.

Once data is uploaded on the portal, it is automatically displayed in different analytical formats such as data tables, graphs, line charts and geographical maps to enable summarized and meaningful analysis and displays.

All data indicating figures(numbers) of different factors of production, processing and markets for every value chain to track how much investment/inputs and impact/output has been registered over a given period of time (Quarterly or Annually).

The portal provides geo-graphical maps that enable viewing of geo-graphical locations maps that show the distribution of key value chain facilities such as farmland, certified ware houses, manufacturing plants among other production, processing and manufacturing plants.

Governments and administrative institutions can use this solution to determine subsidies, stay up-to-date about the state of commodities in the area of interest, monitor production efficiency, and more.

It also ensures sustainability as near real-time data guides continuous and successful implementation of new agricultural regulations through near real-time discovery of gaps to ensure guided interventions to improve value chain performance.

Private Sector

The portal provides a detailed database on various aspects of the commodities in various sub-regions guiding businesses involved in different value chain stages from production, processing and markets to know and determine and manage yield estimation, harvest dynamics, market shares dynamics among others to help them in strategic planning of their businesses as well as participate in policy formulation.
